Quality Accounts

Supports both your annual reporting requirements and provides the ability to monitor metrics month-on-month so you can manage towards better performance during the year - linking external measures to internal KPIs to show contribution from within the directorates.

Quality Accounts

Quality Accounts

Includes monitoring and analysis of inpatient activity for:

  • ‘clinical indicators’, used by CHAI as part of the annual Star Rating assessment but also part of local Clinical Governance and Audit
  • a ‘basket of twenty-five’ surgical procedures used to analyse the ratio of day cases and inpatients against national ‘norms’
  • fifteen designated HRGs in a number of designated specialties to support ‘Financial Flows’.

Calculation of clinical indicators, seen as a general indicator of the Trust’s clinical management, can be very complex, involving the analysis of multiple episodes and applying complex rules to the numerators and denominators used in the performance measures.

This module helps to remove the complexity and simplifies the preparation and dsitribution of key information.

Quality Accounts

Using your standard CDS data this module allows you to perform ‘on demand’ analysis that allows you to:

  • Highlight problem areas before you send returns to HES
  • Change earlier returns where IPS has highlighted poor quality data or incorrect local procedures (like paediatric ‘readmission’ for ward visits)
  • Use a traffic light system to view problem areas as they occur and then to drill down to individual patient details if necessary
  • Create strategies in line with current DoH targets

You can deploy the information across the Trust to ensure potential problems are identified and handled as quickly and effectively as possible.

You can also be confident that you're monitoring and managing your performance accurately - in advance of assessment by external agencies.

Overview of how it works

This module can operate on a separate CDS-compatible database which we provide or can be integrated with existing ODBC compliant databases and warehouses by adding the performance measures to your own tables.

The module analyses specific items from the Inpatient CDS, simulates the rules which are published by HES and “tags” the CDS episodes with new items that allow you to identify readmissions, designated HRGs, previous episode details and so on.

This new data is then available for analysis and reporting.
